# Christmas Day: Incarnation vs Transhumanism

**December 25, 2024**

*”For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given.”* — Isaiah 9:6

On this Christmas Day, we celebrate the central event of human history: **the Incarnation.** God became human. The Creator entered His creation. The Eternal took on time. The Infinite became finite.

**This is the answer to transhumanism.**

## Two Visions of Human Destiny

### Transhumanism: Ascension Through Technology

The transhumanist vision:
– Human limitations are problems to solve
– Technology offers transcendence
– We become gods through our own effort
– The body is a vessel to transcend
– Death is defeatable through engineering

**Key text:** *”We are as gods, and might as well get good at it.”* — Stewart Brand, Whole Earth Catalog

### Christianity: Redemption Through Incarnation

The Christian vision:
– Human limitations are part of created goodness
– God offers salvation through grace
– We become children of God through Christ’s work
– The body is essential to identity
– Death is defeated through resurrection

**Key text:** *”The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.”* — John 1:14
